After careful consideration, our Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to shut down A Workshop of Our Own. This decision comes after a much needed reevaluation of our resources and long‑term sustainability.



We are incredibly grateful to the donors, volunteers, and community members who believed in the mission of WOO and have dedicated their time and resources over these past 9 years. Because of you all, we created and maintained this community, forming incredibly meaningful relationships and sharing skills that will endure beyond WOO’s closure.

While this news marks the end of our brick-and-mortar, we will be working with partner organizations to continue to support women and nonbinary makers into the future. We don't know exactly what that looks like yet, but we will share more in the coming months.

As we shut down our physical space, there will be a liquidation of our equipment and lumber in addition to giveaways. Proceeds will go towards meeting our financial commitments and operation closing costs. We hope to enlist help with the liquidation process and to invite you to stop by the shop and connect.
