Artist Talk: Aspen Golann, Claire Minihan & Kelly Harris

Join us to hear from three incredibly talented woodworkers. Aspen Golann, Claire Minihan & Kelly Harris have volunteered their time and expertise to help us build out our shop this week, but as a bonus to the whole Baltimore Community will be sharing their work with us on Tuesday, March 10th at 7PM, with a Q & A after the presentations.

Aspen Golann

Aspen Golann is an artist and furniture maker from Boston, MA. Her work explores gender and power through the manipulation of iconic American furniture forms. Aspen completed the two-year fine furniture program at The North Bennet Street School and is currently the wood shop coordinator at The Penland School of Crafts. Her work has been exhibited nationally and is published in Fine Woodworking, Art New England, and The Society of American Period Furniture Makers Journal. She teaches at Lie Nielsen Toolworks, Haystack School, The Penland School of Craft and Austin School of Furniture & Design. She has received support for her work from The Massachusetts Cultural Council, The Society of American Period Furniture Makers, Anderson Ranch Art Center and The Maloof Foundation.

Kelly Harris

Kelly Harris is a woodworker, furniture maker, and educator . She designs/builds custom furniture in her Brooklyn,NY shop and instructs continuing education workshops at Makeville Studios in Brooklyn NY and at North Bennet St. School in Boston, MA. She completed the two-year Cabinet and Furniture Making program at North Bennet St. School and the twelve-week intensive at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Maine. Kelly's work is primarily in wood with a focus on solid joinery,  simple yet curious design, an exploration of shape, and sometimes hidden splashes of color.

Claire Minihan

Claire Minihan graduated from the North Bennet Street School’s cabinet and furniture program in ‘09. After trade school, moved on to working at a custom cabinet shop for 3 years. Until finding her niche in the tool world in 2012 making travishers and spokeshaves. She is currently running her business at the Mills at Salmon Falls in New Hampshire.
