This is an IN-PERSON volunteer work event.

Meet, work, and learn at the WOO Volunteer Training this Sunday from 1pm-4pm.

During these three (3) hours we will have a meet & greet, familiarize ourselves with the upgrades the shop has gotten, continue getting the shop ready to reopen, and have a refresher lesson on the one of our machines.

WOO is a non-profit safe space for underrepresented genders in our field. As such, participation is limited to non-binary, trans, and woman-identifying folks over the age of 18.

Sarah Marriage, WOO's founder, is a maker of fine furniture and other wooden objects. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, Sarah studied architecture at Princeton University and fine woodworking at The College of the Redwoods (now The Krenov School). She has taught at The Krenov School, Penland School of Craft, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and Anderson Ranch Arts Center. Sarah's work has shown at galleries and trade shows across the US, including Dwell on Design in Los Angeles, ICFF in New York, and Pritam & Eames Gallery in East Hampton, NY.

You can see more images of her work at her website sarahmarriage.com or on instagram @sarah_marriage

Morgan M. Ward has been a tradeswoman for more than 10 years.  She received her Bachelors of Fine Art in Sculpture from the University of Georgia. She’s worked in the fields of residential renovations, HVAC, and in historic preservation as a tinsmithing apprentice.  She’s had the honor of working in people’s homes, as well as historic buildings and museums, such as the Maryland State House in Annapolis and the National Building Museum in DC.

When not swinging a hammer, she can be found working as WOO's Director of Education and as your friendly local Moderator in WOO’s virtual workshops.  In real life, you can find her biking & hiking around the mid-Atlantic with binoculars looking at birds.  White-breasted nuthatches are a current favorite.
